Sydney Loren Bennett (Syd)

Sydney Loren Bennett, professionally known as Syd, is an American singer-songwriter, producer, audio engineer, and recording artist whose work has helped shape contemporary alternative R&B. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, she first gained recognition as the in-house engineer and producer for the influential hip-hop collective Odd Future before emerging as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter of The Internet. Her understated vocal style, sophisticated production, and emotionally candid songwriting have established her as one of the defining voices of modern R&B.

With The Internet, Syd contributed to acclaimed albums including Ego Death (2015) and Hive Mind (2018), helping the band earn widespread critical acclaim. Ego Death received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, further establishing the group's influence within contemporary R&B. As a solo artist, Syd expanded her artistic vision through Fin (2017) and Broken Hearts Club (2022), showcasing her signature blend of alternative R&B, soul, funk, and electronic influences.
