Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah

Biography

Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah is a Ghanaian Pan-African feminist writer and activist whose work explores African women's sexuality, pleasure, identity, and social freedom. She co-founded Adventures from the Bedrooms of African Women in 2009, creating a platform for candid conversations about sex, desire, and pleasure.


Her first book, The Sex Lives of African Women, was published in 2021 and draws on personal narratives to explore sexuality across the African continent and diaspora. Her second book, Seeking Sexual Freedom: African Rites, Rituals, and Sankofa in the Bedroom, was published in 2026 and examines African traditions surrounding sexuality and pleasure through the principle of Sankofa and the reclamation of ancestral knowledge.


Sekyiamah's broader work connects storytelling, feminism, sexuality, and social justice. She has also written short stories and contributed writing to publications including The Guardian, CNN, and Essence.
