Biography
Cara Page is a Black Queer Feminist writer, cultural memory worker, organizer, and producer who has organized for more than 30 years with Black, Indigenous, queer, trans, and people of color liberation movements. She is the founder of Changing Frequencies, an abolitionist organizing project focused on cultural memory work, and a co-founder of the Healing Histories Project and Kindred Southern Healing Justice Collective. Her previous leadership includes serving as executive director of the Audre Lorde Project.
Page is the co-editor, with Erica Woodland, of Healing Justice Lineages: Dreaming at the Crossroads of Liberation, Collective Care, and Safety (2023), an anthology documenting healing justice histories and practices rooted in Black, Indigenous, queer, and trans communities. Her cultural memory practice also includes Psalm for the Mismeasured and Unfit (2018), an original performance installation written, curated, and produced by Page, and Psalm for the Mismemoried (2024), a visual installation and virtual-reality film created with VR filmmaker Philip Sanchez.
Through Changing Frequencies, Page continues to develop cultural memory projects that recover histories and knowledge shaped by the Medical Industrial Complex and systems of racial, gender, and disability oppression. Current projects include Psalm for the Mismemoried, the Global South Healer Memory Project, and the Healing Justice Lineages Digital Archive. Her work continues to connect movement history, collective care, abolitionist organizing, and Black Queer Feminist thought.

Page’s significance to BQW lies in her development and application of Black Queer Feminist approaches to organizing, healing justice, and cultural memory. Her work connects Black queer feminist thought with collective care, racial justice, reproductive justice, disability justice, and queer and trans liberation.
Page has been a major contributor to the development and preservation of healing justice practices and to the documentation of movement histories that have often been excluded from dominant narratives. Through Healing Justice Lineages, Changing Frequencies, and related projects, she helps preserve community knowledge while using cultural memory as a tool for organizing, collective care, and imagining transformative futures.
